There are more than you can imagine. I am referring both to the beaches to the necropolis on the limited territory of Villasimius. Only that the beaches before the necropolis magnetized the eye   and the latter eventually go unnoticed.

Yet in a strategic position overlooking the sea to give the last and most spectacular views you can imagine, are the eternal abode of men prenuragici, nuragic and Phoenicians.

It 'amazing to think that the vast majority of tourists and casual visitors do not pay any, but traces of neolithic man are also present in the proximity of the shore of Rice in the domus de Janas to another part of a particularly rare type in with the access corridor.

Other cemeteries that chose to be born a site particularly sublime is the Accu area of the beach of Is Traias. The beach is not far from the best known and most central of all Villasimius, Simius the Beach, is housed in a necropolis that dominance seems to have been used for a very wide ranging from the first century until the fourth century AD

Have been identified about thirty graves, some of which are still fully intact. This has enabled scholars to recover the funeral surprisingly complete and intact. The types of burials used are different, mainly because the time span in which the cemetery was in use. Were found in burial urn, for burial in the pit and enkytrismos.

These sites of particular charm really deserve to be visited and allow a better understanding of the great territory of Villasimius, made of sun, sea and much more.

Among the wonders of this sort only town in early 1800, defined for this young man from the east coast, there is no doubt remember the fascinating Museo Civico.

Tucked into a narrow branch of the main street of Villasimius, Via del   Sea, the museum looks like an open book with which to cross and re-discover the different historical phases that the territory has experienced. The amount of events and their variety, narrated step by step within the many rooms of the museum is certainly the visit.

Do not be surprised to discover that the story of the beautiful Villasimius is mainly linked to the sea as no surprise to breathe the atmosphere charming and magic that lives inside the room richest museum, precisely that of the sea. And 'here that are kept   interesting finds from the seabed fished the coast nearby. Fascinating even the Hall of the Sanctuary,   with excellently preserved ruins of the ancient Phoenician temple in Rome. Holiday-makers of today were not sure the first to discover the wonder of this corner of paradise. The Phoenicians in turn decided to dedicate it to their gods.

Worth visiting the Hall of the wreck. Inside you will find pieces of a precious relic dating from around 1500. The ship was hit by the Catalan with probability dangerous currents off the coast still flying boats risky.

Inside the Museum Civil also a beautiful reproduction of a Roman marble statue of a woman. Today it is preserved in the parish house, but until not long ago, the trope matron dated first century AD, was venerated as Madonna.

Ending your tour at the museum you will see the small and beautiful Villasimius with an eye to detail more alert and attentive to her story.

E 'of key archaeological and historic ancient Phoenician port. The site is easily accessible, taking, as well as the beach of Campus in the direction of Campulongu a dirt road that leads directly to a complex of hills, at least after the seventh BC Phoenician common guest.   They settled in the lower hill, finding the perfect place to create a naturally protected harbor near the mouth of the Riu Foxi, then water. The trading post was equipped with a good amount of stores, archaeological traces of which remain very attractive, there were a fair amount of private homes, to emphasize the prosperity of the port, and as often found near sea port, there was a temple dedicated to female deities, in our case, the temple was dedicated to Ashtart, where in all probability was practiced sacred prostitution. I am convinced of this, scholars who have rediscovered the site in jars, which contained all likelihood fragrant ointments and drainer one of huge dimensions that recalls the symbolic phallus. In 540 BC. Phoenician settlement is attacked and burnt by the Carthaginian aggression, to be connected to the ongoing skirmishes for dominance of the islands. The fire, which paradoxically allowed the structures of which we have said is conservative, given that through the kitchen walls and ceilings have been able to resist the aggression of the time. The site was abandoned after the attack by the Phoenicians, will be inhabited only later by the Romans.

The fortress is still elegantly imposes upon a hill not far from Capo Carbonara. E 'visible from the towers of Capo Boi, Port rush and Cala Caterina, and had in the past to control the port Capo Carbonara, and give shelter to the coral and fishermen. Analysis of residues wall, have enabled scholars to hypothesize the presence of a primitive structure already from the fourteenth century. E 'in this period that Carbonara passes the Aragonese, who grants it as a fief to the family Carroz, which was crucial to the conquest of Sardinia itself. The first Spanish grafts, should climb to around 1580-1590   are due to the policy of fortification of the Sardinian coasts through towers connected to each other, commissioned by Philip II, against the attacks turkish-Barbary, terror and not just in those decades, the Sardinian population. We know for certain that between 1590-1 the fortress was established by a garrison that was to oversee the tuna fish. And 'from this time that the fortress acquires a fundamental role in the defense of the Sardinian coasts. In Savoy era tower was not abandoned, remaining active organ of defense of the coast. In 1767, housed a captain, three soldiers and two guns. Was subject to reinterpretations perennial in its structure. In 1812, he managed to resist an attack barbaresco under the blows which had fallen tower Serpentara and that of 'Island of Cavoli. The 1847 date is important for the old fortress. The last captain of the tower, the Alcaide, was fired. The structure fell into a state of disrepair and became a shelter for the shepherds, until 1968, at which point they left the first restoration of the tower and rediscovered interest in structure, which has become the host museum exhibition "Enemigos de la Fe. The ticket costs 1 Euro for adults, and it's free for children from 0 to 6 years, as you can enjoy free entertainment that is offered to tourists at sunset, a sun that illuminates the royal tower, and that goes to die over the coast that greet the fortress, lulled by an undertow always calm, placid moved slightly from the boats return to port. To visit absolutely. And even better approach to life that was the tower, we present a document of 1788, which calls the Admiral of the tower, the fortress estranged wife, a woman who had introduced into the military structure, not suitable for women as clear from the letter, without any request. Here they hear in the letter. "E 'received news of quest'Ill. Ammi.ri Messrs. me that you even without permission of the Colonel of the towers have gone to Codest Tower to your wife. Similar way of operating was to meet with disapproval from 'Messrs. Prefati Ammi.ri while you should not ignore, agree that the permanence of women in the towers, and if you concur that you have legitimate cause to the Royal Amm.e succession, or at least do the Colonel, who report making the Royal Med Amm and may determine whether or not granted permission. Of their order, so there assignment to think of your wife to removal from the tower and looking code to do the opposite.   Cagliari them 7 Febrajo 1788 Royal Amm.e Guiso segr. Santa Maria

What today seems to us little church out of town, lonely and always enlivened by light that is in plain called Santa Maria, and is easily visible to the street side. The building must be part of a Roman country villa built as late as   I sec. AD meets the function of small bath building, equipped with a steam bath,   ie an environment of access and two heated praefurnia, which housed the fires whose purpose was to heat the main compartment. Are still visible fragments of the wall consisting of brick and granite of the area bound by lime mortar. Other phase experienced by the small building, is Christian. At this juncture the caldarium losing its previous functions, will continue to host the statue of the Roman matron, dating from the first century. AD that continually burn and that the faithful can not turn off, has a history rich in implications and details. is still preserved at the Archaeological Museum, which was deemed most likely representation of the Virgin.   The building will then house of worship devoted to it. Between the Imperial and the late medieval period, the floor, will feature in the western side, also some burials. The 1920 corresponds to its last reconstruction.

The quarry Usai
Note especially how the Cava Usai, and structure of the second half of the nineteenth century, and yet, despite the abandonment, it pays tribute to his wonderful presence. It stands majestic, stealing space to the dense scrub vegetation characteristic of Sardinia. The visitor will find, although now disused, the gate that once had to allow access to the quarry, the house that was years ago was inhabited by the guardian and the imposing mansion. Turning his eyes toward the sea to the sky than stealing colors clear that you can imagine are present, abandoned to time and the pleasure of tourists, boulders of a white square on that sunny morning in almost force us to look away. The width of the structure suggests that there was massive mining and extraction of granite in Villasimius. Along with that of Punta Molentis, the cave is the most important area. The business was started in the second half of the nineteenth century by two brothers from Tuscany and only then until the closure, was managed by the company I used, hence the name. The closure will take place, for adverse vicissitudes, in the fifties of the twentieth century. The material extracted from the Quarry and I used semi spot was used for the construction of large works such as sardines, part of the pavement of the famous Via Roma Cagliari.
